Are you a Virtual Assistant who is struggling to maintain a work-life balance? If so, you are not alone. It can be difficult to find the time to do everything that you need to do when you are working from home. However, there are some things that you can do to help make sure that you maintain a work-life balance as a Virtual Assistant. Keep reading for some tips that will help you on your journey.

How to Make Time For Work and Personal Life

Here are some things you can do to help make sure that you make the time for work-life balance as a Virtual Assistant. First, it’s important to set aside time for yourself every day. Whether this is time for your personal hobbies or just taking some time to relax, you need to have some “me” time. Secondly, try to stick to normal working hours as much as possible. If you find yourself working late into the night or on weekends, take a break during the week to compensate.

Ways to maintain your work-life balance

Work-life balance can be difficult to achieve with a job that gives you responsibilities around the clock. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that you’re taking the time to relax and unwind. To maintain your sanity and prevent burnout, set aside time every day for yourself. Whether this is a bubble bath or 20 minutes to read a book, take the time to recharge.

Here are some more tips:

  • Take a proper lunch break. Easier said than done, trust us we know! However, you need to have the energy to get everything you need to do done.

  • Plan at least one vacation. With inflation as high as it is a vacation might not be ideal for everyone. But even if you schedule time for a staycation at a nearby hotel or Airbnb for a weekend that is still time you have away from work obligations.

  • Set up out-of-office notifications. You should be doing this even if it was not the summertime. Letting your clients or potential clients know when you are not available is a task that should always be done.

  • Clean out your email inbox now and then. Cleaning your inbox when you have downtime is a great way to stay tidy and will help you stay organized when you choose to get back to work. Also, you won't be overwhelmed with so many emails at once.

  • Turn off notifications when you're not working. This is a hard one we know! Stick to your boundaries and inform your clients and team members what your office hours are and when they can expect a reply. Trust us they would do the same for you.

  • Practice self-care. Going for a short walk, reading a book you forgot about, and binding on that show you wanted to watch is all part of self-care. You can't be everything for everyone else and not yourself.

All in all, there is no right way to handle working during the summer months. If you enjoy the freedom of being home with your family, taking advantage of easy access to your child, and enjoying the break from schoolwork and homework, then that's great. If you enjoy the balance between work, friends, and exploring what a region has to offer, then that's also great. The best way to find peace in having a work-life balance is by identifying what works best for you as a person.
